Thank you for visiting my blog! My name is Tamara Webb. I’m a communications and public relations professional living in Washington, DC. I’m currently attending Georgetown University, pursing a Master of Professional Studies in Public Relations and Corporate Communications, through the School of Continuing Studies. Thus far, I have taken courses in public relations writing, speech writing, crisis communications, ethics, social media, and integrated marketing communications. I will graduate in December 2010.
Along with school, I work full-time at the Farm Credit Administration as a Public Affairs Specialist. Before joining the FCA in June 2009, I interned for the National Pork Producers Council, as a communications intern. During college, I also completed internships with the United States Department of Agriculture, Office of Communications (summer 2007) and with Congressman Steve Pearce through the Texas A&M Agricultural and Natural Resource Internship Program (summer 2008). In spring 2007 and 2008, for two weeks each year, I interned for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo as marketing and newsroom intern. Also, during fall 2008, I interned for the National FFA Association as a graphics intern at National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
I attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Communications and Journalism, in December 2008. During college, I was extremely involved in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Student Council; the Student Government Association, Legislative Affairs Committee; the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow; and the Memorial Student Center, Wiley Lecture Series. In addition, I also worked at The Battalion, Texas A&M’s student newspaper, as a copy editor and page designer. During my senior year, I worked for the Agriculture Development Office in public relations and communications, writing press releases and designing brochures for major gifts and contributions to the college.
During my spare time, I enjoy exploring DC and taking advantage of the special opportunities, events, and great nightlife the city has to offer. When time allows, I enjoy visiting my friends and family in Texas, and while I’m there, attending as many Texas Country music concerts as possible. I also love to go fishing off the Gulf of Mexico with my family, it a passion we have developed over the years!
About this blog:
This blog serves two purposes: first most, to fulfill a requirement for my social media course at Georgetown University and secondly, to fulfill my desire to blog, share information, express my opinions, theories and concerns about hot topics in the industry, and to introduce a dialect that might be helpful to others with similar interests.
